Randonnée hivernale avec refuges de Karersee à Welschnofen

From the car park at the valley station of the Paolina chairlift, walk past the little church of St. Sebastian | San Giuseppe and up the road König Laurin Straße | Via Re Laurino through the village of Karersee | Carezza until you reach the street Nigerstraße | Via Nigra, just before the Franzin Alm hut. Then follow the Nigerstraße | Via Nigra for about 500m until you reach the "Kaiserstein" car park. From here, take path [9] to path [1A], which you follow to the Ochsenhütte hut. Follow the road Nigerstraße | Via Nigra again for a short distance past the restaurant Tschein to reach the path "Perlenweg | Sentiero delle Perle", which leads below the road to the Nigerpass | Passo Nigra. During this stretch, you can make a short turn towards the Frommer Alm hut. From the Nigerpass | Passo Nigra, continue on path [1] to the Schiller Hof hut (permanently closed). To reach Welschnofen | Nova Levante, turn back a little on path [1] and take path [4A] at the junction. On the way you will pass the Hagner Alm hut (closed in winter).

Refreshment points: Franzin Alm hut, Ochsenhütte hut, restaurant Tschein, Frommer Alm hut.

This excursion is also recommended in the opposite direction from Welschnofen | Nova Levante (on the way back you can take the bus at the Paolina chairlift).

ATTENTION: Schiller Hof hut closed due to staff shortage.

Getting to the starting point of the tour by public transport is easy and convenient.

- 187 from Steinegg | Collepietra, Gummer | San Valentino with change 180 (or 182 and change 180)
