The hike “Perlenweg” links the four villages Nova Ponente (Deutschnofen), Nova Levante (Welschnofen), Collepietra (Steinegg) and Tires (Tiers). Those surround the mountains Rosengarten and Latemar. They are part of the Dolomites and count to the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Among 80 km (49miles), divided into 5 stages, for each considering 1 day, this hike allows an insight in this breathtaking area.
The Perlenweg is very attractive for professionals or for free time hikers. Easily it can be chosen the level of difficulty. There are few possibilities to take public transport and stops in the traditional hovels. The curiosity of this hike is that it can be mounted from both directions.
Start of the hike take place in Cardano. Passing through breathtaking viewing platforms it’s reached Collepietra and Tires al Catinaccio. Tires lies in front of the beautiful mountain Rosengarten.
The second stage leads from Tires to the mountain pass Passo Nigra. Going through wide meadows and forests is reached the next mountain pass called Passo di Costalunga.
Third stage, the Trail guides the hikers to the lake, Lago di Carezza, with his amazing colors. From the lake the Trail leads to Obereggen, where are few possibilities for accommodation.
Next stages Trail is ascending until the meadows of Val d’Ega. Consequent Trails lead to the mountain passes Passo di Pampeago and Passo di Lavazé. Last stop of this day take place at Nova Ponente.
Last but not least, the 5th stage starts at Nova Ponente, descending until Cardano, the initial starting point.

It is important to have a sportive endurance, experience in nature and convenient equipment.
Recommended is a map of trails (1:25.000), available in the tourism bureaus for € 5,-.
The indicated time for each stage is calculated for small groups and there are not included the breaks.

There are no car parking facilities in Kardaun|Cardano. Alternatively, you can park for free in the villages of Karneid|Cornedo or Steinegg|Collepietra. The starting point of the tour in Kardaun|Cardano can be reached from there by public bus or the hiker can start the tour in the respective villages - thus shortening the 1st stage accordingly.
