Scenic circular hike from Welschnofen to the Elisabeth Monument.

This circular hike starts in Welschnofen | Nova Levante and leads up the "Herrensteig" path to the Elisabeth promenade. The promenade was named after Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sissi), as it was one of her favorite walking routes when she spent her summer vacation at the Grand Hotel Karersee | Carezza in 1897. At the end of the promenade, a small memorial plaque commemorates the Empress. Along the "Herrensteig" path and the promenade itself, there are repeatedly stunning views of the small mountain village of Welschnofen | Nova Levante and the impressive Latemar massif.

Directions

The hike starts at the bus stop in the center of Welschnofen | Nova Levante, at the entrance to the cable car parking lot (1156 m). From here, follow path [7] up to the Meierei inn (1556 m). Continue on path [6], passing the Pitschöler, Ladritscher, and Sohler farms. At the next junction, turn onto path [3], which leads to the Elisabeth Monument (1566 m). Staying on path [3], you finally return to the starting point at the cable car parking lot in Welschnofen | Nova Levante.
