This cozy alpine hike from Obereggen offers everything a hiking heart desires: gentle forest paths, lush green alpine meadows, and wonderful places to stop for a break. In a short time, you reach idyllic alpine huts that entice with South Tyrolean specialties and genuine hospitality – perfect for a pleasurable pause. Whether a short walk to the first hut or an extended round to the Reiterjoch with a magnificent panorama: the route can be wonderfully adjusted individually. Ideal for families, connoisseurs, and all who want to combine nature, tranquility, and culinary highlights.
The hike starts at the upper parking lot in Obereggen at about 1,550 m.
From here, follow the well-marked alpine trail [9], which leads in a pleasant ascent through forest and meadows in about 40 minutes to the Epircher Laner Alm (approx. 1,620 m) – ideal for a first break.
Next, continue on trail [9], which takes you in another 30 minutes to the Mayrl Alm (approx. 1,670 m). This hut lies picturesque at the foot of the Reiterjoch and is also managed.
Those who want to go further follow the path up to the Reiterjoch (1,996 m). Once at the top, you can continue to the Ganischger Alm (approx. 1,950 m) and the Zischg Alm (approx. 1,970 m) – both offer great views of Latemar, Zanggen, Schwarzhorn and the South Tyrolean lowlands.
The return is via the same path back to Obereggen.
The starting point of the route is easy and convenient to reach by public transport.
