A very varied and scenic route - the first stage of the Multiday Hike - Alpine Pearls from Kardaun via Karneid and Steinegg to Tiers.

This first stage of the Multiday Hike - Alpine Pearls is a very varied start to your adventure. The hike begins near Bozen|Bolzano, in the small village of Kardaun|Cardano, at an altitude of 280 metres. On the way to the next little village of Karneid|Cornedo, you will come across numerous vineyards and from a distance you can also catch a view of the imposing castle complex of the Castle of Karneid. Through deciduous forest and later mixed forest, you reach Steinegg|Collepietra at an altitude of 820 metres via the "Rittersteig" trail. Here you will find several places to stop for refreshments and you can also enjoy the unique >Museum of Steinegg. Across the hill "Pstosser Bühl", you can already enjoy the first wonderful views of the Schlern and the Rosengarten. You walk right past the earth pyramids of Steinegg|Collepietra and then descend into the Valley of Tiers|Tires to the small village of Breien|Briè. Along the torrent Briè you reach Tiers|Tires, our first stage destination on our 5-day hike.

Directions

From the car park in Kardaun|Cardano (280 m above sea level), walk passing the Rathaus Café along the Kuntersweg until it joins the Karneider Street. Here the route goes uphill along the street (also hiking trail [1]) passing the Pitzner winery. Continue along path [1] until you reach the village of Karneid|Cornedo (500 metres above sea level). From here, hike along the Rittersteig trail passing the Ebenhof cheese farm and the rocket tree house in the direction of Steinegg|Collepietra (820 metres above sea level). In the village of Steinegg|Collepietra, you will find a few places to stop for refreshments and shops as well as the little jewel MUSEUM of STEINEGG and the MINI-STAR TRAIL. Continue along path [2B] passing the Cafè Christl and turn left at the Hotel Oberwirt. This path leads over the ‘Pstosser Bühl’ hill with its OPEN-AIR EXHIBITION, a mountain cinema and great views of the Schlern and the Rosengarten. At the end of the path [2B] there is a small chapel ‘Zum Weißen Bild’. Turn left here onto path [2]. You will pass the earth pyramids of Steinegg|Collepietra and follow this path downhill passing the farm Dosser, the farm Heigler, the farm Oberparnai and into the valley of Tiers|Tires to Breien|Briè. Continue along the path [2] beside the brook Breien to below the village of Tiers|Tires.

You will find various accommodation options in Tiers|Tires. The village can be reached from trail [2] via trail [8]. After crossing the brook Breien, the trail ascends about 160 metres to the village (1.3 km / approx. 35 min.).
