Wonderful hike through the Karerwald with breathtaking views of the Rosengarten and Latemar.
This hike leads at the foot of the Latemar through the famous Karerwald. This forest is rich in valuable conifers. Especially prized is the sound wood, which due to its special properties is used to make musical instruments. It is wonderful to linger at the Mitterleger, while at the Eggental mountain cinema on the Latemar meadows you can enjoy a splendid view of the Rosengarten and the Rotwand.
Directions
This family hike starts from the Karer Pass (1752 m) and first leads along path [21] over meadows and then through the forest to the Mitterleger (1839 m), from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Latemar. For the way back, follow path [21] again and then turn right at the next junction onto path [18]. After a steep climb, you reach path [18A], which leads flat across a meadow. After a short climb, you reach the Latemar meadows and the Eggental mountain cinema (1861 m), which offers a magnificent view of the Rosengarten and the Rotwand. Finally, path [17] leads back to the starting point at the Karer Pass.
