This circular hike from Steinegg combines nature, exercise, and magnificent views. The first highlight: the Spitzköfele – a quiet viewpoint with an unobstructed view of Steinegg, the Schlern, and the Ritten plateau. The path then leads you to the centerpiece of the route: the Eggental mountain cinema "Furner Oach." Here comfortable wooden chairs and a stylized cinema frame invite you to pause – with an impressive panorama of the Rosengarten, Schlern, and beyond to the Zillertal Alps.
At the end of the route, the view opens onto a rare natural phenomenon: the earth pyramids of Steinegg, mysterious and fascinating at the same time. A route that will amaze you – step by step.
Please note: There are no refreshment options available on the entire circular route. However, at the start and end point in Steinegg, you have a selection of restaurants, cafés, and two village shops available.
The hike starts at the village square in Steinegg by the Lex Market shop, following the trail markers [2 | 7 | 8]. First, you pass through a residential area, then forest and meadow paths follow. You follow trail [8] to the junction with trail [8A], which you take to the Spitzköfele, an idyllic viewpoint with seating and a picnic table, ideal for a short break.
Above Spitzköfele, the path ascends briefly and turns left onto trail [6], continuing until you reach the Steinegg high path [yellow shoe symbol], which you follow left. After about 20 minutes, you switch to an asphalt road and continue on the Steinegg high path to the Steinegg sports field. Here you turn left onto trail [3]. Past the Innerplatzer farm, you go downhill until you meet trail [3A].
You follow this until you reach a clearing with a view of the main road Steinegg – Gummer. Here you leave the trail marker at the water reservoir and walk left along the road towards a double curve, where you see the mountain cinema "Furner Oach."
After a generous panoramic break, you take the short path along the road back to the hiking trail and follow trail [3A] downhill. After about 20 minutes, you cross a road, go down some stairs, and follow the steep path past meadows and farms. On the right, you can discover the earth pyramids of Steinegg.
At the end of trail [3A], you turn left onto trail [2], follow the markers through the Katzenbach gorge to the village entrance with the chapel "Zum Weißen Bild." From here, it’s only 10 minutes back to the starting point at the village square.
