Also with cross country skis, everyone can immerse themselves in the untouched nature around Deutschnofen. Whether classic or skating style, the high-altitude trails are unique: with dream views, cosy huts and restaurants for refreshments in between. In Deutschnofen (1350 m) cross-country skiers start directly in the village. While the Pfösl practice trail and the Kesselmoos loop are perfect for beginners, the 9.5-kilometre trail from Maria Weissenstein, South Tyrol's most important place of pilgrimage, through the Kösertal valley to the Neuhütt-Alm is considered medium to difficult. But the effort is worth it: at the finish you get South Tyrolean delicacies and one of the most beautiful views of the Latemar and Rosengarten groups for free.
Altogether, the Eggental offers more than 150 kilometres (60 km of cross-country trails in Nova Ponente, 20 km in Carezza, 80 km on the Lavazè Pass) of well-maintained trails for all levels.
You can rent all necessary cross-country gear from one of the ski rental shops in Carezza and Obereggen/Nova Ponente.
