Year-round adventure in the Dolomites

The welcoming Val d'Ega/Eggental valley, set in the majestic mountain panorama of the Dolomites, is famous for its natural beauties: the Catinacco/Rosengarten massif, Latemar mountain and Carezza/Karersee lake. This valley is just begging to be discovered! Over and over again, all year round. Every season has its charm here because nature and people combine to make this holiday region a very special place. So what adventures and activities does the Eggental valley offer in each season? Read on to find out!

Eggental in spring

Springtime in Eggental melts the snow from the mountain peaks, turns the meadows green and encourages the crocuses to poke their heads out of the ground. In the star village of Collepietra/Steinegg, the gaze is once again turned to the sky. Meanwhile, extensive mountain bike routes, the Carezza Trail and the Rosadira Bike Festival attract mountain bike lovers. At lower altitudes, hiking is wonderful. Visit the little church of St. Helena, for instance, via the Höfewanderung farm-to-farm hike or the Kirchsteig adventure trail. Also, the lifts are back in operation in spring – perfect for soaring up to the alpine huts!

Eggental in summer

Did you know that Nova Ponente/Deutschnofen receives the most hours of sunshine in South Tyrol? But that’s not all: the summery Eggental not only entices you with long days and refreshing mountain air but also with countless hiking trails – 500 kilometres in total! – as well as via ferratas, climbing routes and mountain bike tours. And, of course, there is also the alpenglow phenomenon, known locally as the Enrosadira. Finally, a holiday in the Dolomites in summer is not complete without a stop at an alpine hut. After all, the best way to top off a mountain holiday is with good food!

Eggental in autumn

In Eggental, nature puts on a spectacular grand finale – here, autumn sports the most colourful hues: the mixed forests turn bright red, orange and golden, while the lush conifers hold their dark green poise. Long hours of sunshine accompany you on your hike, on your mountain bike tour, on the via ferrata and, of course, to the alpine hut, where you can warm up with tea or hot chocolate. In autumnal Eggental, the air becomes clear, the view limitless and the atmosphere... well, suffice it to say that in this place, autumn brings silence.

Eggental in winter

You do not want to miss Eggental when it’s covered in snow! In addition to the guaranteed snow, the 90km of pistes in the Carezza and Obereggen ski areas really make the difference here. A total of 160km of cross-country ski trails, 150km of winter and snowshoe hiking trails and three toboggan runs, as well as two snow parks, five children’s areas and two mini clubs, attract casual skiers, sports enthusiasts and families alike to Eggental. What’s more, a grand total of 30 ski huts provide you with the perfect spot – whether in a warm Stube dining room or on a sunny terrace – for peaceful moments between adventurous activities.
