The strategy paper ‘Strategy Eggental 2030’* was created in a unique way: it was developed over the course of more than a year in a participatory development process involving more than 40 people from the tourism industry and a 12-member steering committee.
In 2019, the Eggental Tourism Cooperative decided not to develop the necessary strategy process in a small circle, but rather in a participatory manner, together with members and partners, in order to meet the members' desire for co-determination and participation.
In line with the motto ‘Reality has its limits, but imagination is boundless’, 40 in-depth interviews were conducted with interested stakeholders and representatives in the destination. The focus was on questions such as how to shape the future for the Eggental valley,
what challenges would have to be overcome along the way, and what role one could play in the participatory development process itself.
Breaking new ground together – that was the guiding principle of the tourism strategy that was developed.
The Eggental valley positions itself as a place of longing based on the principles of tranquillity, vastness and a sense of freedom: from the mountain air and the scent of the forest to the drinking water.
We offer year-round mountain experiences close to nature and are experts in alpine sports.
Through genuine hospitality in a family atmosphere, we facilitate interaction with the surroundings and encounters with real local life.
Through regional networks, we support innovation, young entrepreneurs and collaboration between agriculture, gastronomy and tourism.
* This strategy paper was published in 2021 and documents the strategic process at that time and the visions formulated then. It does not constitute current evidence of the destination’s environmental performance or the current status of implementation.
Our vision for the future consists of seven strategic goals:
We strengthen community and cohesion in the Eggental valley and promote local collaborations.
Our guiding principles regarding sustainability: We are committed to development that takes nature, quality of life and economic prospects into account in the long term, including for future generations.
We promote qualitative and quantitative tourism development in order to ensure capacity utilisation, year-round tourism value creation and the future viability of the destination.
We actively expand existing collaborations, establish new partnerships and leverage synergies to create win-win situations for a wide variety of service providers.
We strive to ensure fair working conditions in the tourism sector in order to secure the skilled workers of the future.
We support the expansion of bus routes and develop programs that make it easier for guests to travel by train and bus and to use public transportation while they are here.
We strengthen the digital integration of all members and partners and promote the involvement of young entrepreneurs as well as innovative ideas.
