The Santnerpass via ferrata leads through one of the most spectacular rocky settings of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio to the Santnerpass at 2,734 metres. Surrounded by the imposing walls and towers of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio massif, the route crosses high-alpine terrain and offers an authentic mountain experience. Secured passages, short climbing sections and the distinctive ice gully characterise the ascent and require alpine experience.
At the Santnerpass, the view opens up into the heart of the Rosengarten | Catinaccio. The return route passes the Gartl | Re Alberto mountain hut and the Preuss and Vajolet mountain huts before crossing the Tschagerjoch | Passo delle Coronelle back to the starting point. The combination of via ferrata and a high-alpine circular tour makes the Santnerpass a special mountain experience.
Sure-footedness, a head for heights, alpine experience and full via ferrata equipment are essential. Especially in early summer, snow and ice can make some sections more challenging.
