An attractive hike around the centrepiece of the Catinaccio massif, the Roda di Vaèl. For excitement this tour is hard to beat, offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

Attention: there are some snowfields. For accessibility, mountain experience and the appropriate equipment are required (good hiking boots, hiking poles and possibly crampons).

Attention: there are some snowfields. For accessibility, mountain experience and the appropriate equipment are required (good hiking boots, hiking poles and possibly crampons).

Directions

Route: starting from the Passo Costalunga (1752 m), follow trail [552] via the Masarè trail, continuing on trail [9] to the Passo Vajolon. Head on to the Roda di Vaèl hut & Pederiva hut on trail [551] and [541]. Return via trail [548] to the Passo Costalunga (challenging mountain hike, a good head for heights and good equipment are essential).

Caution: In early summer, (old) snow fields in places on the west side - danger of slipping and falling! Only for hikers with surefootedness and appropriate equipment.
