Winter alpine hut hike from Karersee | Carezza to Welschnofen | Nova Levante

From the car park at the valley station of the Paolina chairlift, walk past the little church of St. Sebastian | San Giuseppe and up the road König Laurin Straße | Via Re Laurino through the village of Karersee | Carezza until you reach the street Nigerstraße | Via Nigra, just before the Franzin Alm hut. Then follow the Nigerstraße | Via Nigra for about 500m until you reach the "Kaiserstein" car park. From here, take path [9] to path [1A], which you follow to the Ochsenhütte hut. Follow the road Nigerstraße | Via Nigra again for a short distance past the restaurant Tschein (closed) to reach the path "Perlenweg | Sentiero delle Perle", which leads below the road to the Frommer Alm hut. At the mountain station of the Tiers | Tires cable car, next to Frommer Alm hut, path [1A] branches off and leads to Nigerpass | Passo Nigra. From Nigerpass | Passo Nigra, follow path [1] to Schiller Hof farm (closed). Continue along path [4A], passing Hagner Alm hut (closed only in winter), and then follow path [4B] to Jocher Hof farm. For the return to Welschnofen | Nova Levante, follow path [4B] back for a short section and, at the trail junction, take path [4A] down to the village.
