Poststeig trail from St. Ulrich|Ortisei to Lajen|Laion
We set off at 9 am on the hiking bus from Steinegg|Collepietra to St. Ulrich|Ortisei. We hike along the sunny slope to the last Ladin farmsteads. Our route takes us through a sparse pine forest and then over an ancient, massive rockfall above Pontives, into a dark, fairy-tale forest with countless moss-covered boulders (sure-footedness required). The route continues with gentle ups and downs across meadows and fields. After 2½ hours, we reach the hamlet of St. Peter|San Pietro. At the Überbacher inn, we take our well-deserved lunch break with a beautiful view of the Val Gardena valley. Refreshed, we continue our hike through the hamlets of Tanirz|Tanurza and Tschöfas|Ceves to Lajen|Laion, with a beautiful view of the Langkofel|Sassolungo group and the Schlern|Sciliar.
