Start right in the charming village of Steinegg and follow a beautiful – and at times moderately challenging – circular trail through forests, meadows and scenic viewpoints. The route covers 9.7 km and around 525 metres of elevation, leading you to romantic spots like the Spitzköfele, where breathtaking views of the Sciliar and Rosengarten await.
Along the way, you'll come across the lovingly restored wayside shrine “Ölgartner Bild” and finally arrive at the cosy Wiedenhof farm inn. A play area for kids and a petting zoo make it perfect for families – and a delicious break with regional delicacies is guaranteed.
The loop back to Steinegg is easy to manage – and the starting point is well connected by public transport or reachable directly from the village centre.
This circular hike starts in the centre of Steinegg (820 m) – right at the “Steinegg Dorf” bus stop or the car park at the village square. From there, take trail [3] up to the upper part of the village. Just above the bus garages, turn right onto trail [6] and follow it past the Kummer farm to the panoramic viewpoint Spitzköfele– a short detour that’s well worth the view!
Back on the main trail, continue along trail [7]. Passing the lovingly restored shrine “Ölgartner Bild” (1,102 m), you rejoin trail [6] for a short section, then turn right onto trail [8B] leading to the Wiedenhof farm inn (920 m), with a playground and petting zoo – an ideal stop for families and food lovers alike.
The return to Steinegg is a pleasant walk along trail [8].
