The string ensemble of the Haydn Orchestra performs under the direction of Marco Mandolini in a rich and varied program. It opens with the intense Adagio and Fugue in C minor K 546 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
This is followed by the elegant 5 German Dances with Coda and 7 Trios D 90 by Franz Schubert, full of Viennese charm.
The lively St. Paul’s Suite op. 29 No. 2 by Gustav Holst brings rhythmic vitality and folk influences. The concert concludes with the spirited Concerto for Strings by Nino Rota.
