The circular hike on the Steinegger Höhenweg is ideal for families and hikers looking for a varied walk. On well-marked trails marked with a yellow shoe, the route mainly leads you through light forests past individual viewpoints with impressive views of the surrounding mountain panorama, such as the Schlern, the Rosengarten, and also the Latemar.
During the summer months, you can easily escape the heat in the forests on this circular route.
Along the way, benches with tables invite you to rest and have a picnic. There is also a place to stop for refreshments on the hike: the Jausenstation Oberölgart. Another option for a stop is the Gasthof Untereggerhof. You reach this by a short detour from Tschigghof to the observatory, and it is not directly on the route.
Parts of the route are suitable for strollers and run along wide forest roads. For more information, contact the tourist offices in the Eggental.
The route starts between Steinegg and Obergummer, at the bus stop or at the parking lot in the Handwerkerzone "Egger Moos." From here, you follow the yellow shoe marker and continue on trail [5] to the Kaserer Bild chapel (1,278m). From here, you hike past Lerchhof (1,310m) and then continue on trail [5] to the Jausenstation Oberölgart (1,201m). Continue on forest road [6] marked with the yellow shoe. Attention: do not follow trail [6] toward Steinegg but always stay on the forest road with the yellow shoe marker. At the fork with the paved road near the Soluck parking lot, turn left and continue hiking on the paths marked with the yellow shoe up to the Steinegg sports area. There, follow trail [3] past Hotel Wiesl and return to the starting point at the bus stop or parking lot "Egger Moos."
Holders of the Mountain Pass can use 17 lifts in the heart of the Rosengarten, Latemar and Schlern/Sciliar any three or five days within a period of seven consecutive days.
