The circular hike begins by crossing the suspension bridge built in 2018. The trail continues to the turquoise Lake Carezza, especially beautiful in the morning light. It then leads through the mystical Latemar Forest. After that, you scramble over rocks and roots through the impressive rock labyrinth beneath the Latemar. On the Latemar meadows, you reach the Eggental Mountain Cinema, offering breathtaking views of the Rosengarten and Latemar peaks. After taking in the panorama, a relaxing break at the Latmor Alm is highly recommended – perfect for resting and enjoying the view. The hike then continues up to the Karer Pass, the highest point of the route.
Note – trail [21] has some fallen trees to cross.
The hike begins at the Paolina car park. From there, follow trail [6] in the direction of Lake Carezza. Cross the suspension bridge built in 2018, continue across the car park and pass through the underpass to reach the lake.
Hike along the right side of Lake Carezza until you reach trail [11], which leads uphill to the Mitterleger (1839 m). Then turn onto the Labyrinth Trail – trail [20], which winds through the fascinating rock labyrinth below the Latemar. At the junction with trail [18], turn right toward the Latemar Saddle.
After a steep climb, you reach trail [18A], which leads across a flat alpine meadow. A short uphill section then brings you to the Latemar meadows and the Eggental Mountain Cinema (1861 m), where you’ll enjoy stunning views of the Rosengarten and Rotwand peaks.
Right after the Mountain Cinema, the Latmor Alm is a perfect place for a relaxing break – enjoy local dishes and take in the breathtaking Dolomite views.
The trail then descends via trail [17] to the Karer Pass. From there, take trail [6] on the left to return to the Paolina car park, your starting point.
