Latemar Towers Via Ferrata

The tour begins in Obereggen at the Oberholz chairlift mountain station (2,100 m). After ascending, follow trail [18] to the Gamsstallerscharte gap (2,590 m). Continue on trail [516] to the Erzlahnscharte gap and the start of the via ferrata. Follow trail [511] with a wire cable to the peak of the Diamantiditurm tower (2,842 m). Head back on trail [511], heading east to the bivouac M. Rigatti and bearing right on trail [18] to the Gamsstallerscharte gap. Finally, take trail [516] to the Latemarhütte mountain hut. The descent is via trail [516] and [22] to the Mayrl Alm Alpine farm and back to the Oberholz chairlift.

Difficulty: moderate (B), including one short C section. The route may only be attempted with full via ferrata equipment and a helmet. Sure-footedness, a head for heights, and alpine experience are essential. Due to the length and alpine nature of the tour, a good level of fitness is required.
