Directions

From Lavazè Pass, follow the main road northwards towards Rauth for about 400 metres. Opposite the “Lavazè” signboard, turn left onto trail [9] (Perlenweg) towards Reiterjoch Pass.

At the pass, turn left to stay on the Perlenweg and cross the road until the next fork. Keep right on trail [23] towards Mayrl Alm. Shortly before the hut, turn right onto trail [23A] and follow the forest road until a right-hand bend, where trail [22] branches off to the left.

Trail [22] leads beneath the Latemar massif through dramatic alpine scenery. Stay on [22] at all crossings until you reach a large scree basin below the Erzlahnscharte saddle (Geostop C).

A short descent leads to a forest road; continue on trail [22] through sparse woodland. After joining a natural track, turn left onto trail [21A], then right onto [9], and continue on trail [8] (Templ Trail) towards Lake Carezza (Geostop D).

Follow the lake trail briefly, then turn right at the fork onto trail [12]. Continue to Mittersee Trail, turn right again ([12]), circle the small lake, and follow the road to a junction near the main road to Karer Pass.

At the final fork, go left briefly, then turn right onto trail [13], which becomes [21] and leads directly to Karer Pass – the end of this stage.
